Location. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz conceived of the Indian Wells Resort Hotel in Indian Wells, Calif., as an exclusive desert escape. Indian Wells Country Club and the Golf Resort at Indian Wells is adjacent to this resort that is dramatically framed by the Santa Rosa Mountains.

Hotel Features. Drenched in natural light, the resort's inviting lobby is furnished with overstuffed wicker chairs and a collection of horse statues in tribute to two nearby polo fields. A winding staircase overlooks an indoor grotto with playful fountains and verdant flora. The resort features 18,000 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space, including three distinctively designed ballrooms. The "100 Club" is a cigar bar-like meeting suite accented with rich, dark wood and leather furnishings. A lobby business center accommodates traveling professionals and a lobby computer provides high-speed Internet access. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Recreational opportunities abound as guests may take advantage of an outdoor splash pool, spa tub, two tennis courts and a mirrored fitness room. Dining options include Loren's with its Mediterranean-influenced décor, Jake's Lounge, an upscale sports bar with live entertainment on selected evenings, and the seasonal Palm Terrace that offers tempting poolside fare. Guestrooms. This three-story resort features 126 standard guestrooms and 25 suites, including one, two-story, four-bedroom townhouse. All are nonsmoking. Marble bathrooms include complimentary toiletries. All rooms have stocked minibars, coffeemakers, video game consoles and complimentary wireless Internet access.

Expert Tip. Less than one mile west of the resort is the Eisenhower Walk of Honor. Paths wander past splendid gardens, a freshwater-spring well and two granite walls honoring locals who served in World War II.
