Location. With a dramatic oceanfront setting that overlooks picturesque Kailua Bay, the Royal Kona Resort stands within walking distance of the quaint fishing village of Kailua-Kona with its many fine restaurants, shops, historical sites and activities. Captain Cook Monument is a 30-minute drive from the resort and Parker Ranch, a working Hawaiian ranch that offers outdoor adventures, is located less than two miles from the property.

Hotel Features. The Royal Kona Resort features a natural salt-water swimming lagoon and sandy sunning area, in addition to a split-level freshwater pool and children's pool. The resort features four tennis courts, the Lotus Center Massage and Spa and on-property shops. Guests can experience oceanfront dining and entertainment at the acclaimed Don the Beachcomber Restaurant and Tiki Bar. Pacific Rim cuisine highlights include prime rib, seafood selections and the restaurant's signature dish, Huli Huli chicken prepared in the exhibition-style kitchen. Royal Kona Resort's popular seaside Luau is served in a scenic coconut grove on selected weekdays. Guests can stay in touch while traveling via wireless Internet access throughout the resort (surcharge).

Guestrooms. The Royal Kona Resort offers 452 air-conditioned guestrooms positioned in three wings. Accommodations feature balconies or patios with gardens, mountain or ocean views. Amenities include refrigerators, coffeemakers and cable television. All rooms are non-smoking.

Expert Tip. In 1812, King Kamehameha established his summer residence in this area after unifying the Hawaiian Islands and returning to his homeland. Next to the Kona Pier in the center of Kailua-Kona are replicas of his thatched-roof home and temple, with signs that explain their significance.
